Day 1Early pick from Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or a city hotel and transfer to Wilson Airport for the scheduled flight to Samburu National Park, with possibly seeing sights of the spectacular Mt Kenya, Africa’s second highest mountain en route. Upon arrival, you will be met by a guide from the lodge and enjoy a game drive to the lodge. Following lunch, there is an afternoon game drive returning to lodge as the sun sets. Overnight at a Samburu Serena Lodge on a full board basis. Day 2Morning and afternoon game drives in the park. Samburu is home to many uncommon species such as reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, Beisa oryx and the long-necked gerenuk antelope to name just a few. There are also many lion, cheetah and leopard to spot as well as huge crocodiles in the rivers. Overnight at a Samburu Serena Lodge on a full board basis. Day 3Following breakfast, there will be a game drive transfer back to the airstrip for the scheduled flight to Nairobi. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to a city centre hotel where your safari ends.
This safari can also be extended with additonal nights in Samburu. Samburu Serena Lodge Located in the centre of Samburu, the lodge overlooks the muddy waters and sandbanks of the Uaso Nyiro River, where pods of hippo and massive crocodiles congregate. The rooms are beautifully appointed with all mod-cons and have private verandas overlooking the river. There is also a swimming pool, beauty therapy and massages available. Fascinating slide shows, lectures and tribal dancing is performed nightly, as well as crocodile feeding. The surrounding terrain is extremely scenic with acacia woodlands, ravines and open grasslands, as well as some volcanic rock cones and craggy hills. Favourite spots generally include long-necked gerenuk, Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe and Beisa oryx, whilst leopard are frequent visitors to the lodge. |
